Sequoia National Forest

This project analyzes Tribal-state/local consultation in California. The project specifically focuses on two California laws that require state agencies and local governments to consult with Native American Tribes: Assembly Bill 52 and Senate Bill 18.

For more details on the project’s objectives and methodology, please visit the “About the Project” page.

Recent Project Updates:
- Ongoing AB 52/SB 18 research (historical context, CEQA/local planning background, hiring preferences, state and local consultation policies)
- Conducting interviews with Tribal, state, local officials, and other experts to understand the development, implementation, and enforcement of AB 52 and SB 18.
