Summary

Tidal wetlands are one of the most productive habitats in the Delaware River Basin, but they continue to be lost at alarming rates. The Partnership for the Delaware Estuary and the Rutgers Haskin Shellfish Research Laboratory are undertaking a living shorelines planning process to help combat this loss. The author discusses the conditions that the Partnership's research indicates are needed for success, as well as the process for identifying suitable sites and laying the groundwork for implementation.
