An ELI Breaking News Public Webinar
On June 18, 2026, the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued tailored show cause orders under §206 of the Federal Power Act directing all six regional grid operators under its jurisdiction to justify or reform their tariff rules for integrating large loads—including data centers—onto the transmission grid. The orders, which advance the Secretary of Energy's October 2025 directive to standardize large load interconnection nationwide, mark the first time FERC has moved simultaneously across every major Regional Transmission Organization and Independent System Operator on this issue.
Join ELI and expert panelists to discuss the orders and what they mean for cost allocation, co-location arrangements, and the evolving boundary between federal and state authority over grid access. The conversation will focus on implications for state and local planning and what communities, utilities, and regulators can expect as the 60-day compliance deadlines approach.
