Session 5: Toxic Chemical Regulation
Although the regulation of hazardous and toxic chemicals is not new, it is a rapidly evolving area of environmental law. Toxic pollutants and waste are regulated through a variety of statutes, including the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). This session of Summer School will explore the regulatory and liability efforts used to address toxic chemicals, manage hazardous waste and sites, and more. Expert panelists will also discuss recent developments, such as the regulation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, commonly known as PFAS.
