District of Columbia

District of Columbia law (D.C. Code § 6–1409) authorizes the Mayor to issue proposed rules to amend the District’s construction codes, to be submitted for review by the D.C. Council. Rules adopted by the city in 2020 (12 D.C. Mun. Regs. 12-B-F App. F) revise the residential building code to establish radon-resistant new construction requirements by incorporating an amended version of Appendix F of the International Residential Code.
