Scott Schang to Serve as Acting President of ELI

January 2015
Following the departure of John C. Cruden as President of ELI, the Institute's Board of Directors has elected Executive Vice President Scott Schang to serve as Acting President as the search begins for a new leader of the organization. A climate and energy expert, he was previously Editor-in-Chief of ELI’s flagship publication—the Environmental Law Reporter—Vice President, Climate & Sustainability and Co-Director of ELI’s Africa Program. Prior to joining ELI in 2003, he practiced environmental law for 10 years with Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton and with Latham & Watkins. Outgoing President Cruden assumed his new position as the Assistant U.S. Attorney General of the Environment and Natural Resources Division in early January after serving three and a half years with ELI.
