Environmental Law Institute Welcomes Two New Members to its Leadership Council

(Washington, DC): The Environmental Law Institute (ELI) is honored to announce the newest members of its Leadership Council: Lynn L. Bergeson and Jon K. Wactor.

Lynn L. Bergeson is a founder and Managing Partner of Bergeson & Campbell, P.C., a Washington, D.C., law firm that assists clients making or using industrial, biocidal, or agricultural chemicals and chemical products in business strategy development, compliance planning, product defense, policy advocacy, and related activities. Lynn has earned an international reputation for her deep and expansive understanding of the Toxic Substances Control Act, the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act, European Union Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals, and especially how these regulatory programs pertain to nanotechnology, industrial biotechnology, synthetic biology, and other emerging transformative technologies.  She served as chair of the American Bar Association Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources among other section leadership positions, and lectures and writes frequently on legal, regulatory, and science policy issues.

Jon K. Wactor is Partner with Wactor & Wick, LLP, in Oakland, California. Since 1982, Jon has been exclusively involved in resolving the environmental problems of real estate developers, landowners, lenders, manufacturers, mining companies and others under federal, state and local environmental programs. He has handled the environmental aspects of over 150 large commercial, industrial and residential real estate developments located throughout the United States. This work includes resolving problems related to property acquisition, financing and sale, contamination, wetlands, endangered species, human health, archaeological and historic resources, agency requirements, and environmental insurance. From 1982 through 1989, he was an Enforcement Counsel for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and an Assistant Attorney General with the state of Arizona.

The ELI Leadership Council is the Institute’s group for the most prominent environment, energy, and natural resource leaders in the nation. The Council recognizes leaders for their commitment of resources and time to the Institute’s vision of a healthy environment, prosperous economies, and vibrant communities founded on the rule of law. Members participate in events and have a chance to network and engage other leaders in discussions about key environmental law and policy issues.
