Secondary Impacts of Climate Change on Floodplain Wetlands and Their Fisheries: A Review With One Hypothesis

Volume 38, Issue 1, Page
Summary

A review of research on climate events such as enhanced temperature, accelerated hydro-cycle, and nonseasonal
precipitation indicate likely changes to the geomorphology of floodplain wetlands and stress to
existing fishery resources. This article focuses on three issues—wetland accretion, aquatic weed proliferation,
and loss of wetland connectivity from a climate change perspective—to indicate a possible connection
between climate change and wetland impacts.
