Volume 30, Issue 6, Page 9
Summary

The Prairie Pothole Region of North America once formed the greatest grassland-wetland complex on earth. This network of interconnected ecosystems provides vast opportunities for carbon sequestration through landscape-level restoration projects. Voluntary restoration alliances comprised of nongovernmental organizations, corporations, tribes, schools, and federal, state, and local government agencies can serve as a valuable tool for mitigating the effects of global climate change.
