Summary

In August of 1984, the State of Michigan received approval from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to administer the Federal Water Pollution Control Act's (FWPCA) Section 404 program for the state's inland waters. Almost five years later, it remains the only state to have assumed this authority.
