Summary

On August 16, 1983, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) issued a final rule implementing Section 11 of the Coastal Barrier Resources Act, which prohibits new flood insurance coverage on or after October 1, 1983 for new construction or substantial improvements of structures located on undeveloped coastal barriers within the Coastal Barrier Resources System established by the Act (48 Fed. Reg. 37036).
