Maya Sokoloff
Maya Sokoloff served as ELI's Communications Associate from March 2024 - July 2025. In this role, Maya created written and visual content for ELI’s social media platforms, assisted with event communications, and worked across programs to ensure that ELI’s work effectively and strategically reaches the target audiences. Before ELI, Maya held various internships with environmental and social justice nonprofits, including Climate Reality Project, where she conducted prospect research and database management for the Advancement team, and National Council of Jewish Women, where she drafted advocacy materials, created social media posts, and organized coalition meetings. She has also been involved in anti-human trafficking initiatives with her involvement at FREEST International, aiding the startup in finding grants, writing proposals, and applying for funding.
Maya graduated from McGill University in 2023 with a degree in Honors History and a minor in Jewish Studies. While at McGill, she worked as a staff writer for the McGill Policy Association Journal, publishing articles on climate reparations, green gentrification, and democracy in Brazil. She also holds a Certificate of European Affairs from SciencesPo where she studied abroad, and which sparked her passion for the international dimensions of policy, human rights, and environmental research. Outside of work Maya enjoys reading, film photography, and getting into nature.
