In January, President Trump issued a memorandum directing the United States to withdraw from 66 international organizations, treaties, and bodies. This withdrawal includes 31 United Nations entities as well as several environmental-related agreements and groups, such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Join the Environmental Law Institute and expert panelists to learn more about this development and what it means for environmental protection and international law. Panelists will explain where the United States is withdrawing and the potential implications of its withdrawal. They will also discuss the long-term, global environmental and human rights challenges that could arise from this shift away from multilateralism.

Panelists:
Kristine Perry, Staff Attorney, Environmental Law Institute, Moderator
Carl Bruch, Senior Attorney; Director, International Programs, Environmental Law Institute
Ruth Greenspan Bell, Visiting Scholar, Environmental Law Institute
Russ LaMotte, Principal, Beveridge & Diamond
Tseming Yang, Professor of Law, Santa Clara University Law School
