Staying on top of the legal and policy developments in the climate change arena is no small task.   • Maryland Climate Commission unanimously supports adoption of new 2030 GHG reduction goal of 40% below 2006 levels
  • Ontario and Manitoba announce plans to develop Cap and Trade programs linked with California and Quebec
  • Connecticut Gov. Malloy created state storm resilience council
  • FEMA advised to incorporate climate change into National Flood Insurance Program mapping
  • In December, Virginia's Climate Change and Resiliency Update Commission submitted a report to Gov. McAuliffe. Top 5 recommendations include adopting a zero emission vehicle program, establishing a renewable energy procurement target for commonwealth agencies, and creating a bank for energy and resilience projects. Gov. McAuliffe established a target for 8% of state government's power to come from solar in next 3 years.
  • San Diego's City Council approved climate plan in December that includes powering city operations with 100% renewable energy by 2035, reducing citywide emissions by 50% (from 2010) in 2035, and increasing tree canopy from 6.5% to 35% by 2035.
