An ELI Public Seminar

In 2007, Bill Blackburn’s The Sustainability Handbook outlined ways companies could be more successful by integrating sustainability practices into operations and decision-making. A testament to the book’s foresight, many recommendations from the original edition are now mainstream practice among major corporations.

For the Second Edition of the Handbook, Bill expandd on the groundbreaking work of the first, and updated it with the most cutting-edge data and practices. Reflecting corporate trends, it also offers a new, more practical view of sustainability, with expanded focus on selling green products, supply chain management, and more. Issues discussed apply to large corporations and small businesses alike. The Handbook also delves into the application of sustainability to NGOs, colleges and universities, and other institutions. As one leading environmental professional put it, the book “translates sustainability from an idea into real world practice for companies and all organizations.”

ELI hosted an expert panel to celebrate the release of the Second Edition of The Sustainability Handbook, and to discuss the current state of corporate sustainability and social responsibility. They explained trends and best practices, and examined where corporate sustainability will go from here.

William R. Blackburn, President, William Blackburn Consulting, Ltd. and Author of The Sustainability Handbook
John C. Dernbach, Professor of Law, Widener University, Commonwealth Law School
