An ELI Public Webinar
To effectually address climate change in wetland mitigation and restoration projects, functions lost to permitted impacts must be effectively and permanently replaced and projects must be sustainable over the long term. This fall, the Environmental Law Institute will host a two-part webinar series to highlight the ways state and tribal wetland programs can design compensatory mitigation projects in the face of climate change.
In the first installment of this series, ELI and expert panelists will explain the importance of wetlands and coastal wetlands, as well as how they are impacted by climate change. We will also discuss the best available science for understanding and adapting to climate change impacts on wetlands and how practitioners can utilize tools, resources, and data to inform planning and design at their compensatory mitigation sites.
Panelists:
Rebecca Kihslinger, Ph.D., Senior Science and Policy Analyst; Director, Wetlands Program, Environmental Law Institute, Moderator
Heath Garris, Ph.D., Director of College Programs, Au Sable Institute
Neil Ganju, Ph.D., Research Oceanographer, United States Geological Survey
Chris Peter, Research Coordinator, Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve
