Alan Horowitz is the co-founder and Chief Experience Officer of Green Street USA, a Pennsylvania-based start-up whose low-cost, subscription-based consulting program helps small and medium-sized businesses save money, build resilience, attract talent, grow market share and become more sustainable through a commitment to environmental and social responsibility. In his role as Chief Experience Officer, Alan is responsible for the creation and execution of the Green Street USA program - an integrated and comprehensive on-line experience, delivered on an annual cycle, that allows subscribers to embrace, embed and deliver their sustainability commitments.

Previously, Alan led the EHS, Compliance, Risk & Security function for Microsoft’s Cloud Infrastructure & Operations (MCIO), the organization that designs, builds and operates the datacenters that run the Microsoft Cloud business.

Alan joined Microsoft in August following a 20-year career at AstraZeneca, where he was Vice President of Global Safety, Health, Environment & Operations Compliance. Alan previously served as AZ’s global safety, health & environment counsel.

Alan has built his career working with business leaders to convert a passion for sustainability into industry-leading programs that protect health & safety in the workplace, promote environmental protection, and facilitate effective compliance and risk management.

An environmental attorney by trade, Alan spent 3 years (2006-09) in the UK leading the strategy and compliance function of the Global SHE organization. During that time, Alan led the development of the company’s SHE strategy, and established the AZ SHE Policy framework. Prior to that, Alan served as the company's global SHE counsel. Before joining AZ in 1997, Alan practiced environmental law in Washington, DC at Fried Frank (1992-96) and Paul Hastings (1996-97).

Alan and his wife Stacy are the proud parents of three teenage sons.
