Developments in State Policy

Massachusetts

Citation: Mass. Gen. Laws 70B, § 1; 963 Code of Mass. Regs. 2.04
Available: Law, Regulations

Massachusetts law and regulations authorize the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) to establish requirements for the design and construction of schools, including guidelines and standards for the sustainability of Approved Projects. The MSBA has established a policy, outlined in an MSBA memo dated March 2010, that requires all approved projects to achieve a specified minimum level of compliance with either the MA-CHPS criteria or the LEED-Schools rating system.
