Alan Horowitz is Vice President of Operations Compliance and Global Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) at AstraZeneca, a multi-national pharmaceutical company. Alan’s Compliance team leads the development and implementation of the AZ compliance and assurance framework across Global Operations, including the company’s manufacturing sites, external suppliers and additional business functions. His Global SHE team is responsible for providing SHE-related strategic, technical and compliance assurance support across AstraZeneca, including environmental sustainability, product stewardship and workplace health & safety. Alan reports to the Chief Compliance Officer and is a member of the Global Compliance Leadership Team and Operations Senior Leadership Team. He also sits on the Board of Directors of Stauffer Management Company, an AZ affiliate responsible for managing the company’s legacy contaminated property-related liabilities. Alan is based at AZ’s US headquarters in Wilmington, DE.
An environmental attorney by trade, Alan spent 3 years (2006-09) in the UK leading the strategy and compliance function of the Global SHE organization. During that time, Alan led the development of the company’s current 5-year SHE strategy and performance plan and established the AZ SHE Policy and Standard framework. Prior to that, Alan served as the company's global SHE counsel. Before joining AZ in 1997, Alan practiced environmental law in Washington, DC at Fried Frank (1992-96) and Paul Hastings (1996-97).
Alan is also President of the Board of Directors of Jewish Family Services of Delaware. Alan and his wife Stacy are the proud parents of three teenage sons.
