Summer School 2008: RCRA and CERCLA

Michael C. Davis (Venable LLP) and Christopher Rizzo (Carter Ledyard & Milburn LLP) provided an introduction to RCRA and CERCLA and their many applications.

Mr. Davis is a partner at Venable LLP. He focuses his practice on environmental and construction insurance, liability risk transfer agreements, "brownfield" transactions and urban redevelopment, environmental litigation, CERCLA cost recovery, subrogation litigation, environmental review under NEPA and its state counterparts, food and drug law, and wetlands issues and toxic torts including representation of corporate plaintiffs and defendants in environmental cases throughout the country.

Mr. Rizzo is an attorney at Carter Ledyard and Milburn LLP in New York City where he practices in the firm’s litigation department and environmental practice group. His practice includes both litigation and transactional matters that address environmental impact review, energy, climate change, historic preservation, land use, hazardous substances and brownfields. He has authored a number of articles on environmental topics, including the forthcoming article, “RCRA’s ‘Imminent and Substantial Endangerment’ Citizen Suit Turns 25,” scheduled for publication in the ABA’s fall 2008 issue of Natural Resources and the Environment.
