China International Business Dialogue on Environmental Governance

CIBDEG LogoThe China International Business Dialogue on Environmental Governance (CIBDEG) is a working group under the Environmental Law Institute (ELI) proposed and organized by Latham & Watkins and designed to create a dialogue between multinational businesses and Chinese environmental regulatory authorities regarding best practices in government and industry in the area of environmental regulation, as well as the forward movement of environmental policy and regulation in China.

The group's aim is to assist the Chinese government in understanding how environmental regulations function in the United States and Europe and the concerns of multinational business, and to help multinational businesses understand the direction of Chinese environmental regulation in order to prepare for and fully comply with the new regulations.

CIBDEG is founded on the belief that a transparent, fair and effective regulatory system will benefit all stakeholders, and that the open exchange of ideas will assist regulators in drafting regulations that are effective in achieving both environmental and economic development goals.
