This law encourages school districts to construct environmentally friendly facilities by establishing an incentive program for new schools through the Academic Facilities Partnership Program. A school will be eligible for financial incentives under this regulation if it gives notice to the Division of Public School Academic Facilities and Transportation of the district’s intention to acquire LEED or Green Globes Certification for their project. Depending upon the level of certification, the school will be awarded an incentive calculated as a percentage of the amount of state financial participation in the project, up to 2%.
