Legacy Society

Guarantee the future of ELI

ELI's commitment to education and convening of environmental leaders in all sectors and to the importance of governance and the rule of law is fundamental and will not change. The environmental problems ELI works on with their partners, and the places where they work may differ, but the values and skills ELI brings to its mission remains the same. The foundation many ELI supporters helped build needs to last beyond the lifetimes of the generations who created America's legacy of environmental law.

Members of the ELI Legacy Society have indicated the Environmental Law Institute as beneficiaries in their wills or estate plans. By taking this important step, the future of ELI's many program areas will be guaranteed.

You may join the Legacy Society by doing one or more of the following:

  • Including ELI in your will or living trust;
  • Naming ELI as a beneficiary of an insurance policy or IRA;
  • Making a gift to ELI through a charitable gift annuity, remainder trust or pooled income fund contribution–all of which provide income for life for you or beneficiaries named by you;
  • Transferring readily marketable real estate, such as a vacation home, commercial building or acreage to ELI; and
  • Using assets to establish a charitable lead trust to provide income to ELI for a number of years before passing them back to you or your named beneficiary.

Donors should, of course, consult with their attorney or other advisors in their planning.

For further information on the Legacy Society please contact the ELI Development Office at 202-939-3839 or dickinson@eli.org.
