Creating Healthy, High Performance School Buildings in the Capital Region

On March 3, 2005, ELI organized the symposium Creating Healthy, High Performance School Buildings in the Capital Region in partnership with the 21st Century School Fund, D.C. Smart Schools and other area organizations. The symposium attracted officials from a number of public school districts in the DC metropolitan region interested in building healthier and more environmentally sound school facilities. The program featured two experts on sustainable school design and construction, Bryna Dunn of Moseley Architects and Anja Caldwell of Montgomery County (Maryland) Public Schools. During a roundtable discussion following the presentations, participants shared their experiences and exchanged information on addressing key concerns and challenges to advancing sustainable building practices. Participants expressed a strong interest in continuing this dialogue with their colleagues throughout the region.
