Mike Richardson retired from Pfizer Inc as the Vice President-Environment, Health & Safety after many years of service. He was responsible for the global Pfizer environmental, health and safety program including activities such as developing and recommending Pfizer policies and guidelines, providing products and services to operating groups, including professional training and modern information systems, monitoring and communicating the development of laws and regulations, maintaining assurance mechanisms, including worldwide audits to help Pfizer operations comply with applicable laws and policies, avoid undesirable risks and maintain sound facility programs and, lastly, to defend the company in the event of environmental or health and safety claims or violations. Previously Richardson worked as Senior Counsel for Pfizer and was an attorney in private practice in Washington State and Washington D.C, and for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, where he served as a Special Assistant in the Office of Enforcement.
Since he retired, Mike works with non-profit environmental organizations, including the international program of The Nature Conservancy and the local land trust of his home in Lyme, Connecticut.
He served on the board of the Environmental Law Institute from 1991 to 1997 and was Secretary/Treasurer from 1994-1997. Richardson received his law degree from the University of Washington. He also holds a Master's degree from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor's degree from the U.S. Military Academy.
