"As one of the founders of ELI, I have always been deeply committed to the values that it represents. We created it to fill an ecological niche in the then-emerging environmental spectrum; it has evolved to play a major role in formulating the intellectual context of environmental policy. In a world that is too frequently polarized, it provides a forum in which disparate views can be thoughtfully debated and rational consensus sought. I trust that these will always be its strengths."
