Beyond Marcellus Shale: Policy Implications of Natural Gas Drilling and Fracking

This seminar follows Nuts and Bolts of Marcellus Shale Drilling and Fracking, on April 14, the first of a series addressing fast-moving developments in the natural gas drilling arena, focusing on Marcellus Shale.

Natural gas is at the forefront of the debate about the energy future of the U.S. It is a topic of repeated calls for America’s energy independence, and it is touted as a cleaner fuel that reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Despite these benefits, the public has become increasingly concerned about the detrimental effects of natural gas drilling on local communities and the environment. This panel discussion addressed current legislative and policy developments occurring at federal and state levels, potential changes to the regulatory framework, and the overall implications for balancing energy needs with environmental protection in the future.

PANELISTS:
Margaret Anne Hill, Partner, Blank Rome (moderator)
Mark A. Holman, Partner, Ridge Policy Group
Amy Mall, Senior Policy Analyst, Natural Resources Defense Council
Barbara Klieforth, Congressional Fellow, Senator Robert P. Casey, Jr.
Peter D. Robertson, Senior Vice President of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, America's Natural Gas Alliance
