This law establishes green building requirements for public and private buildings in the District of Columbia. The law directs the Mayor to promulgate rules to require public school new construction and substantial improvement to be verified as having achieved the LEED-Schools standard or a “substantially equivalent rating system that requires full-building commissioning.” The law also requires public buildings to meet certain EPA Energy Star criteria.
