Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill Litigation Database

The myriad consequences of the spill have already spurred an onslaught of litigation, with allegations ranging from personal injury and property damages to violations of RICO and securities law. As more damages are discovered, plaintiffs will likely continue filing new claims.

This database attempts to track the ongoing litigation so people can see the types of cases that have been triggered, when and where the parties have filed, and what cases have been closed or consolidated. You may click on any of the links below to see a list of cases that fit that search term — e.g., cases of a particular type or filed in a certain time period. Alternatively, you may enter more specific search terms in the advanced search fields at the bottom of the page. When you receive your search results, the results include a hyperlink to the case docket. Clicking on the link will take you to the Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER) Web site, a third-party site. PACER is maintained by the Public Access and Records Management Division of the Administrative Office of the United States Courts. You must register with PACER to access cases, for which a credit card will be required as small fees may apply to certain actions.
