I. Mexico
The Environmental Law Institute's current work in Mexico targets five key activities:
- Implementing the Mexican Constitution: developing the law and building the capacity of policy makers
- ELI and CEMDA are working on a Project supported by the Tinker Foundation to implement the Constitutional Right of Access to Water. See our brochure with the minimum contents of the implementing legislation.
- Building capacity of the Judiciary: training Supreme Court officials and federal judges to strengthen enforcement of environmental law
- Building community capacity: developing and implementing legal tools for adaptation to climate change in Chiapas
- Building legal capacity to protect the Yucatan Peninsula ecosystems: training protected area managers to strengthen enforcement of environmental law
- Developing a national legal framework and expert network for climate change mitigation: Working to implement the Mexican General Law on Climate Change and creating the Mexico-U.S Climate Law Network
