Twentieth Annual ELI Eastern Boot Camp
on Environmental Law®
November 9-11, 2011
Offices of K&L Gates
Washington, DC
ELI's Boot Camp course is led by approximately 20 carefully selected senior practitioners and environmental managers. This year's topics included: the Clean Air Act; resource conservation and recovery; natural resources damages; the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, federal chemical regulation, the Clean Water Act, National Environmental Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act, ethical issues in environmental law, civil and criminal enforcement, and a panel discussion on the legal issues surrounding hydraulic fracturing in the Marcellus Shale.
The Environmental Law Institute has worked with senior practitioners to distill the substance and practice of environmental law into an intensive three-day program for new environmental attorneys working for law firms, businesses, and non-profit organizations affiliated with ELI's Professional, Corporate, and Public Interest Programs. This unique course will provide participants with a comprehensive examination of key environmental law and practice areas -- paying particular attention to emerging issues in the law and in practice. No other course offers as much insight into the actual practice of environmental law.
Environmental Law Boot Camp® is a training opportunity that is available only to ELI members and their invited guests. The course is designed primarily for attorneys new to environmental law and management, although experienced practitioners have found past Boot Camps provide a useful refresher affording insight into current practice. The course has a strong legal focus, however, it is accessible to professionals other than lawyers, such as corporate environmental managers, paralegals, and technical staff who need or would benefit from a more thorough understanding of environmental law.
