Media Guide

I am pleased to introduce the first edition of the Environmental Law Institute’s (ELI’s) directory of environmental law and policy experts. ELI is an independent, non-partisan environmental education and policy research center focused on advancing environmental protection by improving law, policy, and management. Founded in 1969 to publish the Environmental Law Reporter®, ELI has become an internationally recognized source of authoritative information and policy research on a wide range of topics in the field of environmental law and governance. We are committed to delivering timely, insightful, impartial analysis to opinion makers, including government officials, environmental and business leaders, and journalists.

The Institute is fortunate to have staff members with deep expertise in many fields of environmental law and governance both in the United States and internationally. Their profiles are included in this media guide. The Institute’s work does not address every topic of interest in the field, and our experts do not offer opinions in areas where they have not done substantial work. However, we may be able to guide you to other experts on all sides of the issues who can provide perspective on other subjects where we cannot. I hope you will contact us if we can assist you.

ELI’s research and policy studies are available on its website, http://www.eli.org. In addition, our policy journal, the Environmental Forum®, is sent without charge to environmental reporters. We hope we can help reporters and news organizations make sense of today’s complicated environmental issues and that you will call upon members of our staff to aid you in communicating about these issues with the public.

Sincerely,

Leslie Carothers
