William K. Rawson

Partner, Latham & Watkins LLP, Washington, DC

William K. Rawson is a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins and chairs the firm’s Environment, Land & Resources Department in that office. Mr. Rawson has represented companies and industry groups in petitions, agency rulemaking proceedings and litigations covering a wide variety of topics, including the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), the OSH Act, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetics Act, the Federal Hazardous Substances Act and California Proposition 65. Mr. Rawson currently represents a manufacturer of baby bottles in purported nationwide class actions that assert state law claims pertaining to alleged chemical risks associated with use of the products.

In addition to testifying before a Senate committee on TSCA reform, he has lectured on TSCA, EPCRA, OSHA and other topics, and co-authored a handbook on TSCA published by ELI Press. Prior to joining the firm in 1982, he served as a law clerk to the Hon. Jerome J. Farris of the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
